Islamic Slaughtering and skinning of a livestock caracas is falling within the general concept of Islamic Halal  (legitimate) food; which concept has been winning, over the last decades, grounds not only within the Islamic countries but also in various countries worldwide. It is currently recognized as a religious and health code and conduct governing all types of food in general and meat in particular. Needless to say , that such overwhelming  spread of  "Halal" food concept has much to do on one hand, with the huge count of  Muslims in the world and on the other hand, with the growing zeal of the majority of  Muslims to recognize  the Islamic code of Halal food. Indeed, as per International statistics,  Muslims currently count as high as 20% of the total global population, i.e. above one billion; covering almost all parts of the world.  Furthermore, this halal food trend has over the year,  drawn, the attention of non-Muslims to say the least, to the health advantages  attached to  the food halal concept.

 

Islamic Slaughtering:

 

Islamic way of slaughtery  is a religious  compelling  issue and should be recognized  and followed by all Muslim  as  so provided by Quran, in  " An'am  ("livestock") Sora-Verse 121 ,  " Eat not of ("meats") on which God's name hath not   been pronounced".

 

Apart from being religious issue, Islamic technique of slaughtering has health advantages as so verified by various scientific studies. Manual  slaughtering  by the neck  as per the specification  of Islamic code gives  blood much room of  time to leak out; while  in other  illegitimate  ways of slaughtering, blood  gets  stagnant  inside the neck  area; thus  forming toxic  antigenic infiltrating  inside the animal  body  tissues and meat and in turn,   may, on the long run, harm human feeding on such meat . Moreover, Islamic manual slaughtering has been verified by studies to inflicting much less pain on the animal,as compared to the other methods of  slaughtering.  

 

Halal Slaughtering Conditions:

 

The following steps and conditions are forming the Islamic technique  of slaughtering  of an animal, as so specified  by the majority of  Islamic  prominent scholars:-

 

1-     The individual forming the act of slaughtering of an animal shall be required to meet certain religious prerequisites.

2-     Prior to cutting off the animal throat, the name of God shall be pronounced.

3-     Throat cutting off shall be made by a very sharp knife.

4-     The act of cutting shall include the throat, esophagus, and both neck   vessels. 

5-     A slaughtering officer; overseeing the application of the religious controls in the slaughtering process, shall be present at the slaughtering place.
