Arrangement:
A white sheet or a good cloth shall be placed on the table and plates
positioned apart evenly for everybody convenience.
Silverware Arrangement:
Silverware refers to all metal ware used in presentation and food-taking
whether be silver or other metals such as chrome or steel.
Instructions for Use:
Position tableware according to use priority from right to left or from
left to right in direction of plate.
Place tableware beside each other but not close contact, and off table edge inwardly by around 4cm so
that all bottom edges of tableware are
on one straight line parallel to table edge.
- Position eating knife positioned to the right of
plate with blade inwardly.
- Place soup spoon to the right of plate pointing
upwards.
- Position Forks to the left of plate.
- If the food variety presented does not require a
knife , then eatingfork shall be positioned instead of knife.
- When presenting fish as main course , position
fish fork & knife
- instead of normal ones.
- Place desserts ware on top of plate so that the
spoon comes first
- then knife followed by fork and hand of spoon and
knife shall be
- towards right whereas fork hand towards left
direction.
- Position scoop ware beside respective plate in
accordance with the
- presentation method in use and a large fork and
knife shall be
- used to scoop salad , vegetables and chopped meat.
- Place on top of each plate a neatly folded napkin
and inside a piece of bread with tip exposed.
Cups:
Place cup to the right of sitting person , slightly on top of knife edge
or slightly to the right in one position.
Fill cups out just before people sit and when filling cups observe to
bring water flask closer to the cup and
shall be filled in place to three quarters only to be picked easily without
pouring some of its contents.
Individual Plates
- Place eating plate between fork and knife opposite
to each person or all plates are consolidated before the one who does
scooping i.e. the house guardian.
- In the event of presenting soup , place soup plate
on top flat plate.
- Number of plates must not exceed three in front of
each person.
Normally place two saltshakers , one at each side or at center with
small spoon.
